Home Remedies for Age and Sun Spots

Skin discolorations resulting from age and sun spots can mar an otherwise perfect complexion. Fortunately, there are a number of home remedies and professional skin care treatments that can make such unsightly spots fade away.

1) The Juice of Lemons

The citric acid in lemons makes this fruit one of the strongest natural skin lightening remedies. After dabbing lemon juice on age spots twice a day for two months, dark spots should begin to fade.

2) The Juice of Onions

Finely chop up an onion, extract its juice, and try applying it to sun spots. The acidity of the onion juice can induce skin peeling, which has a bleaching effect.

3) The Juice of Fresh Garlic

The acid in garlic can also result in the shedding of outer layers of skin; rub fresh garlic directly on your age spots each night, and pigmentation should start to even out in six to eight weeks.

4) Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is believed to have a number of healing properties and is used as a home remedy to treat a number of ailments. The natural acidity of the vinegar promotes exfoliation of the skin and balances the skin's pH level.

5) Milk Products

Lactic acid is one of the most popular ingredients used in professional skin care products, chemical peels, and other non-invasive cosmetic treatments. It increases the rate of cell turnover, thereby regenerating and revitalizing the skin. Milk, buttermilk, and yogurt are all ingredients in homemade facial recipes because they contain lactic acid.

6) Castor Oil

While castor oil does not contain skin bleaching properties, it can improve skin texture. If age or sun spots are rougher than surrounding skin, try dabbing castor oil on the blemishes. Over time, the castor oil may help smooth out sun and liver spots.

7) Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has healing properties similar to those of castor oil, and daily application to age spots can help even out your skin's complexion.

8) Vitamin E

A well-known remedy for scars, Vitamin E can also be used on sun spots. Men and women who use vitamin E to help reduce the appearance of age spots recommend applying vitamin E directly on affected areas, in addition to taking a daily vitamin E supplement.

Aloe vera is great. If you use Aloe vera right from the leaf it works the best.

Thanks

I have sun damage and a couple age spots on my face. I prepared and used the Age Spot Remedy Recipe above, but wanted to know just how often to apply. One other question is about scars from burns, if they will ever disapear from using the above remedies.

Thank you,

Georgina

I have dark spots that ive recieved over the years from mosquito bites and chicken pox. I have spent thousand of dollars on treatments that only clears them for awhile. Please advise me on the best way to remove these spots that are considered annoying and really not sexy.

I had a pimple that I couldn't resist to scratch off my face! Worst thing is that this pimple was fromed on the middle of my nose!!! Now since my lack of patience to let it heal on its own, I have a dark brown spot in the middle of my tan face! I havebeen using mederma, alma, lemon juice, vinegar, and even use garlic to bleach my nose! What can be used? I have exhausted all these remedies and still there is no change. Will time fix that stain?!

I have dark spots on my skin from getting sunburns as a child. They're on my face as well as my shoulders. Is there an easy way to lighten those without going out and buying expensive peels and cleansers?
