UK Plastic Surgeons Using BOTOX for Temporary Breast Enhancements

Plastic surgeons in the United Kingdom are now using BOTOX® Cosmetic to make women's breasts appear younger and fuller. The injectable treatment already used to relax facial wrinkles can do the same for wrinkles in a woman's cleavage, as well as temporarily lift the upper breasts, according to proponents.

Plastic surgery group Transform, with more than 60 outlets in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, says a series of 12 injections in the muscle wall behind the upper breasts will relax muscles in that area and cause back muscles to compensate, raising the breasts.

A more familiar benefit is the reduction of wrinkles in the cleavage area, since BOTOX® Cosmetic has long been used to smooth out facial wrinkles by relaxing the muscles beneath them.

A Transform spokeswoman, calling the procedure Breastox, said both effects are most suitable to women in their 20s and 30s whose cups sizes are A or B. She said the most likely candidates are those who suffer from the aging effects of sun exposure.

The spokeswoman said the BOTOX® Cosmetic takes effect after about two weeks, and the results last about three months. She recommended it as a treatment for special occasions and said it would not truly reshape the breasts.
