DNA test that can help you learn your percentage of hair loss
There is a new DNA test called “Hair Dx”. Many young men that experience thinning become insecure, unhappy, and often confused especially when they see their father still has a full head of hair. People are frequently mistaken if there father still has a full set of hair, and believe there genetics will follow. The genetic hair loss gene comes from the mother’s side, and If your mother’s father is bald there is a good chance a balding pattern is more likely to occur. The way to find out is by taking a DNA test called “HairDX”. The test is very simple and can be done here in our office. It is possible to get a reading in just three weeks. You will also receive a percentage of the chances you have of going bald. The biggest benefit of this genetic test is that we can predict hair loss before it happens. If we know that a person will be losing his/her hair we can treat it early to stop further progression.
This genetic test needs to be performed with consultation of a physician. Some states like New York does not allow physician to perform genetic testing for hair loss.
