Can I lose my teeth because I’m pregnant? I’ve heard the baby will take the calcium from teeth, is that true?
Hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy can affect your gums leading to inflammation and bleeding. A slight difference in your dental care can make you more susceptible to cavities and gum inflammation. With good oral care there should be little or no dental problems. It is very important to have good home care and regular dental cleanings, since pregnant women eat more frequently. Calcium is provided by your diet, if you do not have adequate calcium in your diet, it will be provided to your baby from your bones not your teeth. Floss, brush and visit your dentist to minimize tooth decay and gum inflammation.
