New Products and Emerging Technologies in Plastic Surgery

Every year in the world of Plastic Surgery physicians and patients alike are bombarded with new and emerging technologies aimed at improving current treatments.   It may be a new method for liposuction, a longer lasting injectable for facial enhancement, or a laser treatment that claims to provide a non-surgical facelift.

The public is informed of these products through intensive and seductive marketing campaigns, often prompting individuals to seek out their local plastic surgeon or medi-spa. It is the job of the medical professional to determine first and foremost, whether the treatment is safe. If so, it is then beholden upon the physician to determine if the treatment provides the results claimed in advertisements, and how it may complement other currently available therapies for face and body enhancement.

At the Plastic Surgery Center of New York & New Jersey we pride ourselves on safe, simple, natural results in cosmetic surgery. Implicit in this motto is careful exploration of any emerging technology prior to offering it to our patients. Although new treatments cannot be released without passing rigorous safety testing, often there are no peer reviewed scientific articles to support manufacturer’s claims. Without this vital information we would be hesitant to recommend new products and emerging technologies to our patients, and caution patient consumers to consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon before accepting a cosmetic surgery treatment known to be brand new.

The physicians at the Plastic Surgery Center do offer many of the latest surgical and non-surgical treatments in cosmetic surgery:

We offer patients power-assisted liposuction – a less traumatic and quicker liposuction technique that may reduce recovery time and improve the quality of results.

For facelifting procedures, we offer minimally invasive facelifting techniques, similar to those advertised through nationally advertised franchises, with the understanding that these particular procedures may only benefit certain patients interested in facial rejuvenation.

Our rhinoplasty procedures utilize the latest techniques intended to provide the most natural results, especially for those undergoing ethnic rhinoplasty procedures and patients seeking revision rhinoplasty from dissatisfaction with prior surgery performed elsewhere.

We offer a wide array of injectables including: Juvederm, Radiesse, BoTox, Scultptra, Restylane, and Collagen. All of these may be performed in an office setting without the need for anesthesia.

We offer comprehensive treatment for varicose veins, including: sclerotherapy, laser treatment, stabphlebectomy, and the state-of-the art EVLT treatment – a minimally invasive treatment for large varicosities.

….And many more.
