Liposuction Costs and Financing

cosmetic-surgery-costs

Liposuction prices can vary depending on the amount of correction needed and the specific area targeted during your cosmetic surgery procedure. Procedures such as tumescent liposuction can be more costly due to its use of new technology. Additionally, some areas of the body require more than one treatment to achieve the full sculpting and aesthetic benefits of the liposuction procedure. Typically, liposuction costs range from $1,500 to $7,500. For a breakdown of average liposuction prices by area of body, as well as what factors cause liposuction costs to vary, read the sections below.

Liposuction Prices Range by Area of Body

Liposuction prices differ greatly depending on the area of the body you wish to treat. Although there are several factors that can influence liposuctions costs, the following is a breakdown of the average expected price for each body part:

  • Upper and Lower Abdomen: $3,000 - $7,500
  • Arms: $1,500 - $5,000
  • Back: $1,500 - $4,000
  • Breasts: $3,000 - $7,500
  • Buttocks: $1,500 - $4,500
  • Chin, Cheeks, Jowls, Neck: $2,000 - $4,500
  • Flanks: $2,000 - $5,000
  • Anterior Thighs and Knees: $2,000 - $5,000
  • Inner Thighs and Knees: $2,000 - $5,000
  • Hips/Waist: $1,600 - $5,000
  • Outer Thighs: $1,600 - $5,000

Variations in Liposuction Costs

There are a number of factors that influence liposuction prices. The first is the size of the patient; if there is large amount of fat to be removed, the price will be higher. There are also other factors not included in the initial cost estimate, such as operating room fees, anesthesia, lab work, and the cost of recovery garments that will need to be worn after surgery. Your liposuction surgeon’s fees will also depend on experience and the area of the country where he or she practices. If your surgeon is very experienced and in high demand, he or she will obviously charge more. In areas of the country where costs of living and labor fees are higher, you can expect liposuction prices to go up. According to ASPS, the average cost of liposuction to one area of the body is $3,500. Some patients opt to undergo additional procedures, such as breast augmentation, in conjuntion with liposuction; this can increase the cost of treatment.

The Truth about "Cheap" Liposuction

It is important that you approach the cost of liposuction as you would any major medical procedure. In other words, do your homework, and be aware of the potential pitfalls of seeking out the lowest liposuction costs available. Oftentimes, advertisements for “cheap” liposuction can be very misleading, and can include hefty financing fees that are only thoroughly explained in the fine print.

Remember, liposuction is a medical procedure that requires the consideration of many factors aside from cost. Just as you would comparison shop for an auto mechanic or other professional, you want to make sure your surgeon has adequate experience and a good reputation. A physician who specializes in liposuction should be willing to explain all aspects of the surgery, including costs, prices, and techniques.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Find out about the physician’s experience, including the number of procedures completed in his or her clinical career. Additionally, most reputable liposuction doctors will happily show you before and after pictures of their patients, and may also have testimonials to read or former patients you can contact before proceeding.

Remember, although liposuction prices can be high, the costs to your health can be much greater. Price should never be the only consideration in getting a cosmetic surgery procedure. It is better to use a more experienced liposuction surgeon and secure private financing to help you cover the cost of the liposuction procedure than save a little money and place your health at greater risk.

Liposuction Financing

Although liposuction is less expensive than other types of cosmetic surgery, the cost of liposuction can still seem daunting. Fortunately, flexible liposuction financing is now widely available, and many prominent surgeons offer monthly payment plans or accept outside credit.

To offset the cost of liposuction, many physicians offer liposuction financing packages that come with varying terms. Doctors who perform liposuction may recommend national financing through companies such as CareCredit®. Healthcare financing companies specialize in elective surgeries, and offer financing plans that range from 12 to 36 months with varying interest rates and terms.

How to Apply for Liposuction Financing

If you are considering applying for financing to offset the cost of liposuction, online application processes make it easier than ever. Most financing companies offer an application form on their website that will give you a decision within seconds. All you have to do is print out the company’s response and show it to your doctor before beginning liposuction treatment. If you prefer to make liposuction financing arrangements in person, most cosmetic practices will be happy to assist you in the application process. Furthermore, your surgeon and his or her staff will often be able to refer you to the credit company whose rates and payment options best suit your needs.

Most credit company websites are equipped with a payment calculator, which will help you figure out how much you’ll need to pay each month to finance the cost of liposuction. Credit companies are usually quite flexible, and can help create a plan that will work with your current income and expenses.

If you feel that you could benefit from fat removal, but are worried about the cost of liposuction, take a moment to reconsider your options. Flexible monthly payment plans can fit more easily into your budget than a large payment up front, and online liposuction financing applications make it easy to see if you qualify.

Hi, I keep myself in pretty good shape but can't seem to shift my little belly, I have been doing 50 sit ups daily for the past month and while my abdominal muscles are now rock solid it seems to have pushed my belly out even further. I am 5ft 9" and weigh 12 stone 5 lbs. If I had to guess i'd say I have about a pint of excess fat around my abdomen and love handles. Would liposuction be a good option for me and roughly what sort of cost would I expect to incur? Thanks for any advice.
