Dental Bridges Costs and Financing

Achieving a natural looking and realistic smile after tooth loss is possible with dental bridges. Dental bridges are one method used by dentists to fill a gap created by a missing tooth (or teeth). The negative effects of tooth loss, including an increased risk of periodontal disease and tooth decay, the shifting of teeth, and a change in the bite, can be avoided by the timely placing of dental bridges. Dental insurance typically covers about half of the cost of dental bridge work, which ranges from $500 to $1,200 per tooth in the bridge, depending on the materials used, the amount of work that each tooth requires, and the dentist's experience.

Dental Bridges Pricing Breakdown

A dental bridge is made up of two dental crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth in between. Natural teeth, dental implants, or a combination of natural teeth and dental implants can be used to support the bridge. Since the cost of dental bridges varies according to a few factors, you and your dentist should consider the following before a price can be fixed:

Materials: Base metal alloy is used for its strength and typically costs less than other materials. Gold alloy is both strong and gentle to surrounding teeth and is a relatively expensive material. Porcelain fused to metal is used when both strength and aesthetics are important and can cost as much as gold.

Complexity: Factors such as the number of teeth missing, the location of the missing teeth, and the state of the remaining teeth can influence the cost of the procedure.

Dentist's Experience: Whether or not the dentist has superior training, qualifications, artistry, and experience may affect the cost of the procedure.

Dental Bridges Financing

Once you have determined the cost of your dental bridges, you may wish to discuss financing options with your dentist. Many dentists offer financing plans to assist you with the cost of your dental bridges treatment.

Financing typically divides the total cost of treatment into smaller amounts to be paid over the course of several weeks or months. In addition to financing plans specific to your dentist, he or she may be affiliated with CareCredit® and/or Capital One®.

CareCredit® is a financing option which offers patients $25,000 to pay for dental and medical procedures. Qualifying patients are issued a line of credit similar to a credit card which they can use to cover the cost of care. Convenient monthly payments allow patients to get the care they need when they need it, instead of having to wait for sufficient funds. Applications are available at your dentist's office or at the CareCredit® website.
