Practice Dentists
Dr. James DeLapp II
An experienced and highly regarded dentist with a particular interest in aesthetic dentistry, Dr. James DeLapp has been practicing in his home community of Centennial, Colorado, for more that 23 years. Upon completing his bachelor's and master's degrees in biological science at the University of Northern Colorado, Dr. DeLapp spent four years as a forensic scientist in the northern Colorado area. Following this, he went on to earn his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry and is currently a part-time Instructor at the University in fixed prosthodontics (crowns and veneers).
Dr. DeLapp's teaching experience has revolved around general dentistry, anesthesiology and sedation, medical emergencies, and photography.
Dr. DeLapp enjoys giving back to the community as a volunteer in both dentistry and in areas outside of dentistry. His volunteer hours number in the hundreds per year. His interests and hobbies are varied and emphasize athletics. In 1995 he earned a master's degree in exercise science from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. His research and studies were conducted at the Olympic Training Center and the International Center for Aquatic Research (ICAR). His studies were primarily concerned with the physiology and biomechanics of world-class swimmers. His part-time hobbies focus on swimming, primarily as a coach, official, and researcher.
Dr. DeLapp is married and practices dentistry with his wife, Candace. Their daughter, Sarah, attends Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she is majoring in biology and is a scholarship swimmer for the Rams.
Dr. H. Candace DeLapp
Dr. Candace DeLapp is also a well-respected and experienced practitioner with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry. She has been practicing in her home community of Centennial for 12 years. Dr. DeLapp began her dental career in a most unusual fashion. After high school Candace did not have the opportunity to attend college and started working at the University of Colorado Heath Science Center as a clerk-typist. Nineteen years, much work, and several promotions later, she was an Administrative Officer in the Department of Neurology and was in charge of grants and budgets. She was one of several investigators in the study entitled "Long-Term Results Following Prednisone and Thymectomy in Myasthenia Gravis," which was published in the journal Neurology. Her other publications involving neurology practice patterns also appeared in Neurology. Going to school at night and on weekends, Dr. DeLapp undertook a pre-dental curriculum and is one of the few to be admitted to a professional school without an undergraduate degree. While in school she was President of her class for four years and participated in many committees at the University.
Dr. Candace DeLapp also enjoys giving back to the community as a volunteer. In addition to her volunteer work at the dental school, Dr. DeLapp is a Nationally Certified Official for USA Swimming. She also spends hundreds of volunteer hours helping our community through various charitable organizations. Her other outside interests include fly-fishing, gardening, and collecting antiques. The DeLapps' daughter, Sarah, is a biology major at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she has been rewarded a scholarship for her contributions to the university swim team.
