Dentists
Doctors Fred and Rebecca Bye have over thirty-five years of combined experience in the placement of dental implants.
In 1985, Dr. Fred Bye was privileged to be one of a small, very select group of periodontists to be invited to attend the first formal dental implant training program offered by Professor Per Branemark at the Branemark Institute in Gateburg, Sweden. Professor Branemark is credited as the original researcher responsible for the design and development of the first generation of “osseointegrated” implants. Today, the overwhelming majority of all dental implants are based on the biological principle of osseointegration whereby the implant essentially fuses the adjacent bone.
From 1984-1992, Dr. Fred Bye was a Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. In 1985, as a demonstration case for other faculty members, he successfully placed the first dental implants for a patient within the Department of Periodontics. From that time to present day, the University of Michigan School of Dentistry has continued to be one of the world leaders in dental implant research. Details of Dr. Fred Bye’s extensive implant related training, lecturing, and continuing education can be found in his curriculum vitae.
Dr. Rebecca Bye received her specialist/specialty training at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry from 1990-1992. At that time, The University of Michigan was recognized as one of the premier periodontal specialty training programs, which also included comprehensive training in dental implantology. Dr. Rebecca Bye’s unique graduate implant training included specialized courses and training programs from literally all of the major implant manufacturers of the day. During the past five years Dr. Rebecca Bye has been the director of an implant training program for a large group of dedicated general dentists from the tri-state area. Accordingly, she has invited numerous world-renowned professors, researchers and directors to conduct one-day seminars for The Center for Advanced Periodontics and Implantology Study Club. Details of Dr. Rebecca Bye’s extensive implant related training, lecturing, and continuing education can be found in her curriculum vitae.
