Answer: Anti-aging. We all want to regain what nature and the years have taken from us. We craft elaborate and monotonous skin care routines that only mask the problem instead of eliminating it. These problems pick at our self-confidence daily and leave us begging for a miracle… …which has finally arrived! Thermage is a breakthrough in anti-aging skin care. This non-invasive skin therapy aims to permanently remove those irksome imperfections once and for all. It’s a single-treatment procedure that helps tighten, smooth and contour your skin without surgery or injections. The secret is in the spark: Thermage uses radio frequency waves (aka CRF, capacity radiofrequency) to reach the deeper layers of skin and stimulate the body’s natural renewal and production of collagen. There’s no pain or recovery time associated with Thermage. A session typically can last from less than a half an hour to a maximum of two hours, depending of course on the size of the area being treated. Most patients experience only sensations of warming and cooling during the procedure. The result is firmer-feeling skin after only one session, followed almost immediately by a more youthful appearance overall. So throw away your creams and gels and kiss those droning routines goodbye. This is a gift that keeps on giving every time you look in the mirror!

These not only take a toll on you physically, but emotionally as well, decreasing your overall sense of self-confidence. Temporary solutions like creams and cover-ups only mask blemishes and ultimately just add to our frustrations, so isn’t there a way to permanently remove those imperfections quickly and easily? Yes! The time has come to take back your skin. Revitalize your damaged skin cells with Fraxel, an FDA-approved microlaser therapy specifically designed to treat multiple skin conditions with remarkable results. Fraxel works to awaken the subsurface cells so they revitalize themselves naturally. Only a small fraction of the skin is treated at a time, leaving the area surrounded by healthy, unaffected tissue. By using a “fractional” method, it allows the skin to heal faster and more thoroughly, promoting the growth of new, tighter tissue. “Lasers…won’t that hurt?” The Fraxel laser safely penetrates the skin down to the dermis without breaking its protective outer layer. Topical anesthesia is used, eliminating the chance of any possible discomfort. Therapy is stretched over the course of an average of 3-5 treatments, spaced 2-4 weeks apart, and is completed in about 30 minutes. Many patients notice a significant improvement within the first two treatments. So what are you waiting for! Finally get rid of age/sun spots, acne scarring, stretch marks, melasma (the mask of pregnancy) and crow’s feet once and for all.

All of us hate them and yet most of us have them. They are unsightly, seemingly impossible to get rid of and a major factor in self-consciousness. Statistically affecting 90% of pregnant women, 70% of adolescent women and 40% of adolescent men, you can be sure no one is immune. Know Your Enemy Stretch marks are thin linear scars that initially appear red/purple and get lighter over time. Main causes are pregnancy, adolescent hormonal and weight changes and exercise/mass gain. They can appear all over the body, but the most common places are where the most fat resides (e.g. breasts, hips/thighs, abdomen, buttocks, etc). Prevention is futile, most experts say, so let’s talk treatment. Topical vs. Laser Therapy While topical treatments like cocoa butter and vitamin-enriched creams are easily accessible and commonly used, they typically just mask the problem instead of getting to the root of the condition. Microlasers, like Fraxel and IPL, are designed to be a quick and simple way to permanently remove the look of stretch marks. The Fraxel laser safely penetrates the skin down to the dermis without breaking its protective outer layer. Topical anesthesia is used, eliminating the chance of any possible discomfort. How to Get Rid of Acne
Posted on 09/15/2010 22:17:00 How to get rid of acne? Acne has always been a common problem in teenagers and now becoming a common problem in many adults. In fact, over 60 million americans now suffer from acne. Dealing with acne can be quite frustrating, especially if you have tried everything from oral to topical medication, expensive face washes, and even harsh chemical peels. Isolaz, the acne light treatment revolusionized how acne can now be treated. Isolaz, an acne treatment available in Philadelphia at Jardin Medical Spa combines a vacuum and a painless broadband light to deeply cleanse ad purify your pores from he inside out. Isolaz is not a one time treatment. You will typically need 6 treatments, one week spaced apart to thoroughly clean your pores. The vacuum acts as a plunger and pulls dirt and oil out to the surface of the skin, the broadband light then kills off the bacteria sitting in the sebaceous gands. With each visit, you will see clearer skin. Patients are recommended to stay on a maintennce program to keep their acne under control. This maintenance program varies from patient to patient, depending on the severity of their acne and breakouts. Isolaz is also used to shrink pore size, and reduce oil production leaving your skin less oily and clearer and cleaner looking. For more information on Isolaz, please visit www.jardinmedical.com. How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks
Posted on 09/13/2010 18:19:00 Men and women both experience stretch marks. They are embarrassing and hard to get rid of, or so we think. With today's medical technology, stretch marks can actually be a thing in the past. Stretch marks result from skin that has been overstretched. It can be overstretched from pregnancy, body building, and extreme weight gain. They can be found anywhere on the body, but most commonly abdomen, breasts, buttocks, legs and upper arms. The Fraxel laser, a non ablative laser can now reduce, if not eliminate the appearance of stretch marks. The fresher and newer stretch marks are (typically less than 5 years) the better the results. This does not mean that older stretch marks cannot be treated. You will see a reduction, however the results are not the same as the fresh new ones. Fraxel gently kills off damaged tissue and leaving you with soft smooth skin. It works by creating tiny wounds deep in the skin This triggers the body´s natural healing process to remodel collagen and replace damaged tissue with younger, smoother, healthier skin. And since Fraxel is a fractionated laser, it only treats a fraction of your skin ata time leaving the surrounding tissue intact and therefore helping your skin heal much faster. Results are beautiful smooth skin with no downtime (except with some redness and downtime). For more information or if you would like to schedule a complimentary consultation to see if Fraxel can help with your stretch marks, call Jardin Medical Spa at 484-562-0591 or visit www.jardinmedical.com, a leader in fraxel philadelphia. For a video on Fraxel, click the link belowhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK_JySKIE3E

Melasma Treatment and Photos
Posted on 09/10/2010 15:37:00 Melasma is a common skin disorder, known as "mask of pregnancy". Women see dark facial pigmentation on their cheeks, lips, nose, and forehead. The discoloration can vary in color intensity and does vary from person to person. Melasma is more common in Asians, Hispanics, Arabs, and North Africans. The cause is not really known but it is linked to melanin production. The amount of melanin produced is dependant on several factors, including; heredity, exposure to sun, birth control pills, and certain medications (such as Tetracyline).Women with melasma often feel extremely frustrated because nothing seems to work for them. But the truth is, melasma can be controlled very nicely with the help of a medical spa. There are a few options to getting that pigmentation under control and minimizing the darkness on the skin. These options include chemical peels (TCA, glycolic, azaleic, kojic and more), skin lightening agents (hydroquinone and other pure botanicals), sunscreens (mineral based zinc and titanium), and lasers such as fraxel. Women with melasma need to schedule consultations to see which option or options will work best for them. Typically after any treatment, you will need to continue on a skin lightening agent and incorporate that into your everyday skin care routine. Jardin Medical Spa, located 10 minutes from Philadelphia can help and give you that beautiful skin back. For more information on the chemical peels, lasers, and at home skin care products, please visit our website at www.jardinmedical.com.

Does Thermage work and is it really worth it?
Posted on 09/09/2010 20:11:00 Thermage, the Gold Standard for skin tightening does have its limitations. In my opinion, and being a Thermage Center of Excellence, I think Thermage does a phenomenal job at tightening the skin from head to toe. You do have to be a candidate for the treatment. You cannot have excessively loose skin because there are limitations to non-surgical procedures. You can Thermage your eyes, face, arms, tummy, legs, knees, buttocks and more. Thermage is also used to reduce the appearance of cellulite. It will not however make your cellulite disappear. Patient expectation is very important and should be realistic. All these questions and concerns are answered at any consultation. Visit www.jardinmedical.com for more information.

Pelleve Skin Tightening at Jardin Medical Spa in Philadelphia
Posted on 04/09/2010 14:17:00 Introducing Pelleve at Jardin, a new FDA-cleared skin tightening procedure to safely and effectively treat facial wrinkles without surgery. Pelleve uses advanced radiowave technology to tighten the skin, the Pellevé system precisely heats the deep layers of the skin without damaging the epidermis, or top layer. The heat causes the collagen in the skin to contract and tighten. After treatment, the skin begins to produce new collagen, which improves skin firmness. The result is a naturally refreshed appearance.Unlike other skin tightening systems, Pellevé doesn’t require anesthesia or skin cooling. Patients can expect to feel a deep warming sensation each time the handpiece touches the area being treated. Because the skin is not numb, the patient can describe the depth of the feeling to the doctor, which helps to ensure the best possible results. They can also return to home or work immediately. Side effects may include mild discomfort during the procedure within the treatment area. Mild swelling and redness may also occur and typically go away within 2 to 24 hours after treatment.Pellevé can be used to treat the skin on the face, including the eye area. Many people start to see results after just one treatment, with lasting improvement in skin tightness and tone for up to six months. Because a full facial treatment takes only about an hour with little, if any, recovery time, Pellevé fits easily into busy schedules.Click here for before and after photos of Pelleve.

Permanent Makeup at Jardin Medical Spa in Philadelphia
Posted on 03/11/2010 19:32:00 Permanent Makeup at Jardin Medical Spa in Philadelphia can enhance any lifestyle. When I first heard of Permanent Makeup at Jardin Medical Spa, I had a preconceived idea in my head based on some permanent makeup I had seen. A lot of the permanent makeup that I had seen, especially eyebrows, looked very fake and painted on. In some cases the permanent make up looked okay on the person, but it was not something I would ever consider for myself. When Bonnie Hall, our new permanent makeup artist joined our team at Jardin, she right away told me I needed permanent makeup eyebrows ! Bonnie explained to me that our eyebrows are the most important feature on our face because they frame the eyes and enhance all our other features. Because I am fair and blonde and too busy with my schedule working for Jardin, I never have time in the mornings to fill them in, let alone get them even. When I do take the time, I end up wiping them off during the day, so I end up looking a tired or washed out. Bonnie took the time to educate me about the whole permanent makeup process; which I liked because it is how we are here at Jardin with all our own patience. She spent a lot of time drawing on my eyebrows in front of the mirror creating the best shape for my bone structure and wanted my feedback as part of the process for the approved shape. She then created a custom color that was better than any pencil or shadow that I ever purchase. This color was meant to work with my skin tone, coloring and lifestyle. Once that was done, she used the perfectly shaped eyebrows as the template for the permanent makeup. In 1 hour I had the most perfectly shaped, natural eyebrows that would not wash away!!! It completely changed my view on what Permanent make up really is. All of us at Jardin Medical Spa are lucky to be able to have the permanent makeup. It gives people a chance to see what it looks like in person when it is expertly done. I personally invite you to stop in and meet Bonnie Hall for a consultation for any permanent makeup procedure. She will show you her magic and talk to you about the best colors and shapes for your face, skin tone and lifestyle.Click Here: Before and After pictures

The Largest Organ in Your Body- Your Skin!
Posted on 02/15/2010 20:58:00 Your skin is more then just your face, although that’s what most people pay the most attention to. Your skin is actually the largest organ in your body and weighs probably more the you think. The skin of an average adult weighs 8-10 pounds and averages an area of 22 square feet. What’s the secret to great skin? Not surprisingly, the state of our skin is affected by genes, nutrition, general health, emotional well-being and exercise. How you care for your skin play an important role in ensuring you look your best,You’ve probably heard that skin is made up of skin cells. But you didn’t know that you have approximately 19 million skin cells on every square inch of skin!Eat your veggies! Eating a wide range of vegetables– particularly those high in vitamins C and E (such as spinach, carrots, red bell peppers and tomatoes)- will ensure that your diet is rich in anti-oxidants, compounds that are believed to play an important roles in maintaining the health of both your body and your skin. We’re all thin-skinned, in certain areas. The thickness of our skin varies considerably, depending on its location and the role it plays: Its thinnest on our eyelids and thickest on the palms of our hand and soles of feet. Not sure of your skin type? Try this simple test. About 15 minutes after washing your face and patting it dry, press lens-cleaning paper on different part of you face. In those areas where you produce a lot of oil, the paper will stick or pick up oil. If it doesn’t anywhere, you have dry skin. If it only sticks on your forehead, nose and chin, you have normal or combination skin. If it sticks everywhere, you have oily skin.Need to look after your skin? We specialize in skin care and will help you with a proper at home skin care, and also with treatments that will be most beneficial for you

Melasma Facts in Philadelphia
Posted on 02/04/2010 17:57:00 Is your skin discolored from the sun? It may be MelasmaMelasma (also known as Chloasma, or “mask of pregnancy” ) is a common increase of pigmentation that occurs exclusively in sun-exposed areas, in particular on the face. It usually causes three different patterns of symmetrical pigmentation on the face, affecting most commonly the central face (cheeks, forehead, upper lip, nose and chin); or less commonly the cheeks and nose, or the cheeks and jawline.Melasma usually improves– sometimes to great extent– in response to faithful use of medical grade sun screen, hyrdroquinone which is a bleaching cream used every night, Fraxel laser resurfacing or chemical peels. Sun protection needs to be continued long term in order to reduce the risk of relapse of melasma. Some facts about Melasma:· It is much more common in women between the ages of 20-40, especially pregnant women· Melasma is less common in older women, and is seldom seen in women taking estrogen replacement therapy· Melasma occurs as a result of excess melanin production in skin cells. The reason is unclear, but scientists say there are several factors including sun damage and estrogen levels.· Sometime is mistaken for freckles or age spots, which are essentially the same thing, however, melasma spots can be larger and much darker and can take on random shapes.· Heat can trigger melasmaClear your Melasma with our Vi Peel! Getting Rid of Forehead Lines at Jardin Medical Spa in Philadelphia
Posted on 01/18/2010 16:36:00 Does everyone think you're angry?Dealing with lines that are small and fine is much easier than trying to erase deep grooves. If you see any appearance of a line on your forehead, take care of it now.The development of fine lines on the forehead is an indication that the underlying structure of your skin cells is damaged. You may notice other indications of this damage if you also have fine lines around your eyes, dry skin and dull complexion. Why does this happen? Your cells are tired. Years of fighting off free radicals created by too much sun, exposure to environmental toxins, and less then healthy eating habits has left them unable to produce normal levels of the structural proteins, collagen and elastin. Without these two proteins your skin begins to become lined, wrinkled, dry and uneven-toned.One of the most powerful steps you can take is to protect your cells from accumulating any further damage. Simply avoid UV sunlight as much as possible, flush toxins from your body with lots of water and boost your antioxidant activity by eating plenty of brightly-colored fruit and vegetables. Invest in a medical grade sun block and wear it every single day (yes, even when it rains). If you would like to prevent the lines that you have from getting deeper, we suggest you start getting Botox and possibly Fraxel. Botox will prevent the lines from getting deeper and Fraxel laser resurfacing will erase them. The combination is non-invasive with little to no downtime. We are having a Botox Party on Wednesday February 3rd from 3-8pm. Botox will be discounted! Get rid of your forehead lines! Understanding Laser Hair Removal at Jardin Medical Spa in Philadelphia
Posted on 01/04/2010 17:39:00 How does it work?Depending on the area being treated, the treatment can take several minutes to an hour. The most commonly used laser uses lasers with a low energy beam and produces one single color light. The beam passes through the patients' skin and gets attracted to the pigment of the hair. The energy from the laser passes down the hair shaft and is absorbed by hair follicles that are in active growth phase. This then results to inflammation and delivers a signal to the follicle indicating that it should move into telegen or resting phase. Not all hair follicles are in the growth phase, so that is why patients need multiple sessions. Results can be visible after one treatment; most patients need about 8 sessions. Maintenance treatments are needed in order for the hair not to grow back. So the efficiency of the laser hair removal depends on the patient and how committed they are to keeping up with it. Keep in mind, maintenance treatments generally have intervals of a year or more, so it is not much of a hassle.......................................................................................................................................Laser Hair Removal Special: Buy one package, get one FREE (of equal or lesser value). Ask The Doctor
Posted on 12/23/2009 15:22:00 Q: I was shopping with my mother the other day. I was trying on pants, and she told me next time I should not wear lace underwear. Little did she know that I was wearing a thong!! She saw my cellulite through the pants I was trying on. How embarrassing. What can I do to get rid of this cellulite before the summer?A: Unfortunately, nothing will get rid of cellulite completely. However, there are treatments such as Thermage and Mesotherapy that will help reduce the appearance of cellulite. Nothing is permanent either, so every couple years, you will need to keep it under control by doing treatments. You should exercise regularly, and drink lots of water. I hear that jumping rope helps you circulation as well (which is another cause of cellulite). ~Dr. Mansoury
