Yo Adrienne! - Height & Weight

Real People Discuss their Height & Weight.
“Weight. It’s a touchy subject for most people. But the reality is that nearly 119 million Americans are either overweight or obese. That’s like 65 percent of the country. But what is the proper weight for you? We’re here in the streets of downtown San Diego, and we’re looking for some brave souls who will look at our height and weight chart and tell us exactly where they fit in. Let’s give it a whirl.”
We talked to people of all shapes and sizes –
“How tall are you…? I am six-feet-tall.”
“I’m six-foot-four.”
“Five-ten.”
“Like five-seven… I might be five-six though. Are you stretching in at 5-7?
But not surprisingly, not everyone fit into their ideal weight bracket.
“That puts you between the 158 and 180 range. NO… Much larger than that! “
“That puts you in the 164 to 188 range. 245.
“Wow. I need to lose some weight. That’s like a size zero!”
“That means you should weigh between 171 and 187 pounds. I weigh 188. You’re close, you’re so close. We’ll give it to you.”
“Do you think that this weight goal is unrealistic for most people? Oh, you know, it depends. Everybody’s got different body sizes.”
“I work out all the time. Muscle weight more than fat. I’m benching 300 pounds, dead lift over 500. I’d say it’s kind of unrealistic. I would have to be a much smaller framed person to carry weight like that.”
“I think for a lot of people it could be a realistic goal, I was just I guess fortunate enough to have the right genes to not really have to try to maintain this weight.”
Now, do you think that most Americans would fit into their ideal height weight ratio?
I don’t know. There’s a lot of big people out there! I see them all the time down here.
And what do you think that’s caused by?
Probably too much eating!!
“Look around. Fast food everywhere you go. It’s a staple of American culture – McDonalds.”
“You know, It’s McDonalds, and Burger King, and all that stuff you guys. Don’t eat it!”
“We’re a fast food nation, and it’s starting to seem like it’s starting to be more organic, and people are trying to be more healthy. But we’ve got a lot of work to do.
“And these buffet lines – they should be outlawed!”
“Health problems! No exercise, you’re slow! You can’t get up off the couch to change the channel because it’s just too far away… that’s why we have kids nowadays… Remote controls!”
“What would you do to change your weight? I would walk. Actually I was quite overweight, but I went from a size 14 down to a size 2 by walking and not eating.”
“I walk a lot of miles every day. We travel a lot we walk a lot of mileage.”
“I ride bikes. I lift weights. Don’t jog or do anything like that, but I ride a lot of bikes.”
“Oh, I ride the bike. I can keep the weight off there, but sometimes I just gotta eat when I go home, and I eat too much.”
If you were overweight would you ever consider plastic or bariatric surgery? A surgical solution to your weight problems?
I think if it made me look unusually old, or something like that, or very unhealthy and it had an effect on my family and others, I might do some minor types of things…”
“No, no.”
Why not?
“I don’t know, I guess I have a healthy enough ego that I don’t need to worry about it. I do want to lose weight and I’m going to exercise and stuff like that. But I’m not worried about that.”
Well, that’s going to do it for me this month, Greg, back to you!
