Beautiful Body for the Summer

Five ways to get your body looking great for summer.
Welcome to Carlsbad, California----and this beautiful spring spectacle known as the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch, one of the more colorful areas especially this time of year in Southern California. As we start to wrap up spring---we look ahead to the long awaited summer months!
Hello and welcome to Docshop TV, I’m Greg McKinney.
The list of outdoor activities starts to grow this time of year, and that means being prepared to protect yourself from the sun. Docshop TV’s Angelique Frame has more.
This summer---beaches around the world will be filled with sun worshippers. But as good as it looks and feels---if you overdo it---there can be a sobering side effect to soaking up the sun.
“The number one Risk is skin cancer. Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer and 90 percent of it is caused by sun exposure.”
Lizette Galvan is the lead medical esthetician from Luminess Medi Spa in Del Mar, California. She says it’s equally important for all skin tones and types to wear the proper sunscreen---but some are more at risk than others.
“The lighter your skin is the more likely it is that you are going to get a sun burn and the more sunburns you have in your lifetime it actually doubles and triples your chances of having skin cancer.”
In fact, your chances of getting skin cancer are greater now than ever before. In the1900’s there was a 1 in 1500 risk of developing skin cancer. Today that number is an incredible 1 in 87 risk.
So the question is not whether or not sunscreen is a good idea—the question is with all the different kinds out there on the market---how in the world do you know which one is the best one?
“The most important thing to look for is ingredients like Zinc and Titanium Dioxide which protect you from the UVA and UVB rays.
a lot of people think they’re being protected by 15 and the SPF of a sunscreen is relative to the amount of time they’re spending in the sun so 15 is minimal, 30 is probably what you’re looking for but the real thing with sunscreen or the most important thing is reapplying it every 2 hours.”
Applying sunscreen to your skin is one thing—but there are other parts of the body that often get ignored, like your hair. There are some simple ways to prevent damage to your lovely locks from excessive sun, chlorine and salty ocean exposure. The most obvious way is to wear hats. But there are UV sun protection sprays for your hair that offer SPF 15 and higher. You also can’t forget about your eyes.
Well, as it turns out, the national consumer league provides these simple tips on what to look for when you when you’re looking for shades. Look for sunglasses that have 99-100 percent uv protection. Make sure they fit close to your face to prevent harmful rays from filtering in. You can see the other suggestions including good summer eye protection for your kids. Remember, their eyes are more prone to sun damage than adults.
These are just a few tips to keep in mind this summer. If you want to know more about how to recognize sun damaged skin—and what you can do about it---check out our new “Docshop Extra” report here on docshop.com. Jill Howard Docshop TV.
Protecting yourself from the sun is one thing---but for some it’s all about showing off the goods.
Time is running out—but you still have time to get your body “beach ready.”
Here’s Docshop TV’s Gina Naranjo with her top 5 ways to get a hot body for summer.
We all know that exercise and drinking lots of water helps---but c’mon, we live in a fast food kind of world---and there are quicker ways to get to where you want to go.
Here’s my top 5 ways to get your body sizzling for the summer.
Number 5, Spider Vein Removal. You know that blue road map working its ugly way up the back of your leg? There’s hope for you! You can laser zap them away with a non-invasive light therapy. There is no recovery time at all which means you can stop hiding those legs and show them off in short shorts all summer long.
Unfortunately in the scorching summer sun you can also expect to sweat! But wait, did you know that Botox can be your savior?
Yep, that same Botox is also used under your arms to reduce sweating. A couple drops of Botox and sweating will be reduced by 90% in 48 hours. You can expect to stay nice and dry well into the fall and winter as the results last for 6-10 months.
Number 3, Laser Hair Removal. News flash ladies and gentlemen body hair on the beach is not cute. Want to get rid of that unsightly hair? Well in 4-6 consecutive treatments you can get rid of for good. Fast and effective, get sexy smooth skin that looks great in your swimsuit. Is your problem a little heavier than hair? Then you probably need our number 2 pick….Smart Lipo. Let love handles and flab be memories from last summer. If you’re looking for an easy way to ditch a few pockets of stubborn fat without surgery then this is for you. Literally melt away the fat from your abs, thighs, arms and neck with a teeny tiny laser. What’s even better is that it’s minimally invasive & has a downtime of only a day or two.
Now there are some of us that might not want to remove fat….there are some of us that actually need a little extra. And for us, ladies we have the grand all mighty number one breast augmentation.
Go from an A to C cup by way of breast enhancement. Look better and feel more confident in your swimsuit. And with recovery only taking one to two wks, it beats the heavily padded swimsuit tops of the past. But remember to not over do it!

Still to come on Docshop TV, Mothers Day is this month, so what better time than now to take a look at Mommy Make-Overs!
But as we go to break, with summer right around the corner, we provide a healthy alternative to greasy delivery pizza…let’s go “on the clock” with Docshop TV’s Laura Segnit.
Eating right is important if you want to look and feel your best this summer season. In 60 seconds, I’ll show you how to make healthy and tasty spinach and mushroom calzone.
Start with a half-pound of prepared pizza dough that has been sitting at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. Wheat dough is going to be your healthier option here. You can look for these fresh 1-pound dough balls at your local specialty food store and cut them in half.
Working with plenty of flour, stretch that dough into a nice flat circle, as if you were making a pizza. Now we’re going to build our calzone on one half of the pizza dough, leaving some room here at the edge.
Start with about 1/2 cup part skim ricotta cheese, 1/4 cup part skim mozzarella, 2 cups fresh baby spinach, and a quarter-cup sliced white mushrooms. Sprinkle with another quarter cup of the part skim mozzarella.
Now you’re going to fold the pizza dough over the side with the cheese and veggies, and carefully braid the two halves together to seal in the ingredients.
Make a few slits in the top of the unbaked calzone and top with a little bit of pizza sauce, ½ cup mozzarella, and a sprinkling of chopped green onions.
Bake for about 30 minutes in a preheated 375 degree oven.
Time’s up – which means its time for me to eat. See you next time, On the Clock.
Welcome back---to the flower fields at Carlsbad Ranch here in Carlsbad, California where this month---mom’s everywhere are being celebrated on mothers day.
Most moms will tell you---motherhood has many rewards. A lot of moms will also tell you---keeping that pre-birth figure can be a challenge to say the least.
But, as you might expect, there’s a surgical solution---the mommy-make-over.
You know the old rhyme…First comes love.
Then comes marriage. Then comes a baby in a baby carriage.
Then comes… plastic surgery???
“After having my two children, I was very small breasted and I wanted to be more filled out in the breast area.”
While some moms workout or get a single nip or tuck to get their pre-baby body back… others are going for the full enchilada – often called the “Mommy Makeover.”
This isn’t just one procedure, it’s often a mix of procedures,
liposuction to remove fat, tummy tuck for a slender waist, and the combination of breast augmentation and lift - to give your bust a boost.
“A lot of times because there’s volume loss with the pregnancy or weight loss, an implant is added with the procedure.”
“In a tummy tuck operation, we can remove that excess skin and tighten those muscles that have been stretched out.”
“I went from a A-cup to a small B, full-B, and a small C. And I now fill out all my clothes in my bathing suit and my stomach is now flat of little extra baby stuff that was down there is now gone”
The Mommy Makeover is not for everyone.
Recovery can take several weeks and if you’re planning to have more kids, pregnancy can undo some of the work.

For a cosmetic dentist and his mom in Smithtown, New York, every day is mother’s day.
Not that long ago, Dr. Jimmy Kilimitzoglou gave his mother a new set of veneers. Dr. K says she has deserved a new smile for a long time.
“It’s funny many times I saw my mom put her hands over her moth because of her smile she always had spaces, she had old silver fillings, and she, herself didn’t really like the dentist. covered her mouth.. spaces in her teeth… didn’t really like the dentist”
But Anna’s attitude changed after sitting in dr. K’s chair. His special brand of TLC put her at ease and she instantly became the ideal patient.
“When I finished the whole work everybody noticed that I had some change but they couldn’t realize, they couldn’t make a distinction what was that change in my safe and it was my smile. And since then, well, I smile with great confidence”
Dr. K says his mother was so excited about her smile, she asked for more cosmetic enhancements. To learn more about dr. K’s office in Smithtown, New York, visit esidental.com.
