NOW PLAYING: Rumor Patrol- C-Tuck

Rumor has it----some celebrity moms-to-be are scheduling C-sections during their 8th

month of pregnancy to avoid the extra weight that occurs during the 9th month of pregnancy.

The rumor doesn’t stop there. Word is—some starlets are also undergoing tummy tucks immediately after the delivery to try to trim off some of that excess skin and keep the stretch marks out of the sight of the ever present papparazzi!

Sound too loopy or narcissistic even for Hollywood?

The so-called “C-tuck” post pregnancy weight loss and keep-your-shape plan doesn’t sit well with much of the general public---or even many of those who perform plastic surgery every day.

"I would not recommend people undergo a C-section and tummy tuck in combination because I think it leads to more surgery than is necessary with a higher risk of infection than is appropriate.”

Dr. Scott Miller is a board certified plastic surgeon not far from Hollywood in La Jolla, California. He says in addition to the risk of infection---there are other reasons the “super slim down combo surgery technique” doesn’t make sense.

"There’s a lot of skin shrinkage that’s going to occur when the baby’s out. So in many cases what you’d be doing is you’d be cutting out and tucking a lot of tissue that was going to shrink all by itself.”

“When you tuck tissue, the price you pay is having a scar, and the less tissue you have to tuck, the shorter that scar can be.”

“Having a C-section involves a post operative recovery and the limitation of activities that would be counterproductive to getting back into shape as fast as you can”

We haven’t been able to find one celebrity who has gone on record saying they’ve had or even considered the C-tuck. Ego and looks aside---there’s probably another reason you may never hear of such a surgery being performed in a credible plastic surgery center.

“Most OB-GYNs won’t do that without an amniocentesis which is an extra procedure and puts the child at risk so I think that’s very, very uncommon.”

From celebrity mom’s-to-be to housewives in middle America---what’s the best advice to shape up after birth?

"The best thing you can do to control weight gain during your pregnancy is with appropriate exercise, followed by getting back to your exercise program soon after the pregnancy.”

So------- consider this rumor---------

Just that.
