As with any surgical procedure, there are some risks to LASIK vision correction treatment.
In roughly one-to-five percent of cases, some patient have complications and side effects from LASIK.
Some of the most common include dry eyes, glare, halos with night vision, and sensitivity to light. Also, in rare instances, some patients may experience overcorrection or undercorrection of their vision problem, which may require additional treatment or corrective eyewear after surgery.
Other risks include visual regression, loss of contrast sensitivity, astigmatism, and diffuse lamellar karatitis, or D-L-K.
There are ways of reducing these risks, including alternatives to traditional LASIK and advances in LASIK technology.
