What Is A Facelift Exactly, and Is It Right For Me?

What Is A Facelift Exactly, and Is It Right For Me?

updated

Facelifts are one of the most common plastic surgeries performed. As the body ages, so too does the skin. The skin slowly loses is elasticity and begins to loosen and sag, on the face and neck especially. A facelift is designed to tighten the skin around the face and neck, giving a tighter, more youthful appearance to the patient's face and neck. The face is essentially re-draped and tightened for a more youthful appearance. If you are considering cosmetic surgery in Folsom, then Dr. Craig E. Berris M.D. and our staff may be able to help.

The facelift procedure itself can take three to four hours and uses local anesthesia and intravenous sedation. The incision begins just above the ear and continues around the ear lobe to the back of the ear. Next, Dr. Berris tightens the underlying muscle and connective tissue. The skin is then repositioned and excess skin trimmed away. Finally the incisions are closed with fine sutures.

Often a facelift may be supplemented with additional procedures to improve results even further. Laser skin resurfacing and liposuction are common supplemental procedures for many facelift patients. Dr. Berris is pleased to offer his skills and services to those in the Folsom and Sacramento areas interested in a facelift or other cosmetic surgeries.
