Facelift Trends

While the techniques for face lift surgery continue to evolve, the most significant trends for face lift surgery include:

1) Less invasive procedures that balance efficacy and convenience. The SMAS facelift is performed to ensure longevity and more natural looking results than the typical lifestyle lift or mini lift provides. It also results in a shortened healing time.

2) The movement to less anesthesia in terms of time and type (ie. From just general anesthesia to a choice of general anesthesia or iv sedation). Anesthesia needs to match the goals of the surgery to ensure the comfort level of the patient.

3) Facelift surgery that targets a specific segment rather than just a full face.

4) Lower cost (generally half of traditional facelift fees).

5) The realization that neck lift should be performed in combination with lower facelift segmental surgery to ensure natural looking results.

6) Use of minimal laser treatments or a comprehensive skin care program to achieve the most natural looking results.

The face lift surgery can be combined with a variety of other face procedures including blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), rhinoplasty (nose surgery), otoplasty (ear pinning surgery), forehead lift (brow lift), neck lift, BOTOX® Cosmetic, or dermal filler injections. Laser skin resurfacing can also be combined with the face lift surgery to improve the quality of the skin. This treatment is effective in reversing the effects of sun damage or smoking.
