Plastic Surgeon's Phone App Lets Users Preview Results of Procedures
A South Florida plastic surgeon has tapped into the popularity of smart phones by creating an iPhone® application that shows the user how he or she might look after cosmetic surgery. With more than half a million iPhones® operating around the world, the doctor is sure he and his colleagues will be getting some additional business.
Dr. Michael Salzhauer, whose practice is in Bal Harbor, north of Miami, says his iSurgeon® app can give people an approximation of what they might look like after a nose job, a chin implant, breast augmentation, liposuction, or other procedures. Not to be confused with exact science, his app includes sound effects such as grinding, sawing, and screaming.
Prospective patients could e-mail the results of their virtual surgery to a plastic surgeon, Salzhaurer said, and "make an appointment and have a realistic discussion about what's possible and what isn't."
MTV UK put the app on their Web site and suggested people could play virtual Heidi Montag by simulating multiple procedures. Montag had 10 plastic surgery procedures on the same day.
Salzhaurer said the app is not meant to promote excesses, but simply to have fun and satisfy the user's curiosity about what he or she might look like after plastic surgery.
The iSurgeon® application can is available through the iPhone® app store.
