A Collection of Famous British Smiles
British teeth are not like American teeth; they tend to have a little more character. An increased number of Americans are undergoing cosmetic dentistry treatments such as teeth whitening and the placement of porcelain veneers. As of now, these procedures don’t seem to be quite as popular in the UK. Here is a look at a collection of famous British smiles.
Noel Gallagher - Oasis
Doing massive amounts of drugs can lead to serious tooth decay. This is exactly what happened to Noel Gallagher of the British band, Oasis. He took a look in the mirror and saw how horrid his teeth were and stopped doing drugs immediately. They may not be perfect, but at least they pass as teeth for now.
Cheryl Cole - Singer
Cheryl Cole rose to fame when she won a reality television series to become a member of the group, Girls Aloud. She had 20 consecutive top 10 singles, which was great because she could finally fix her crooked teeth that had a bit of a vampire thing going on.
Alan Carr - Stand Up Comic
Talk about a Brit who has a pair of gnashers that are the epitome of "British Teeth". Alan Carr is a stand-up comic from England whose teeth and glasses have actually been the leading cause of his ascent to fame in England.
Amy Winehouse - Singer/Drug Addict
Winehouse is just one more person that adds proof to the argument that one's teeth are much better before drug use than after. Believe it or not, when Winehouse first began her career, she was a lot curvier and healthier. Amy, put down the crack pipe, and start performing with the pipes God gave you.
Liam Treadwell - Jockey
What should a sports reporter do when a jockey who rode 100/1 shot Mon Mome to victory at a major horse race? Say what BBC reporter Clare Balding blurted: "Liam, just give us a big grin to the camera. No, no, let’s see your teeth. He hasn’t got the best teeth in the world, but you can afford to go and get them done now if you like." Poor taste.
Mel C - Spice Girl
Back during Mel C's Spice Girls days, her teeth were even shoddier than today. It looks as though some cosmetic dental surgery has been done. While still not perfect, it's definitely helped fix her Chiclet teeth.
Ricky Gervais - Comic/TV Show Creator
Ricky Gervais was complimented by a U.S. journalist for wearing unflattering false teeth for his role as a English dentist during his latest film, Ghost Town. Gervais was very flattered, but had to regretfully inform the journalist the smile was all his.
Sir James "Jimmy" Wilson Vincent Savile - TV Personality
In 2007, Savile was mugged by one of his fans. He was walking down a corridor to his room in Queens Hotel, when he noticed a women walking next to him. He thought she was going in for a friendly hug. Instead, she reached over, grabbed his glasses and sprinted off. He later said, "I thought it was marvelous, it was just like old times!" Savile has promised his mugger a box of chocolates for giving him a "'1960s thrill in 2007." He probably should have promised her he'd get dentures.
On Wednesday, February 9th, Prince Charles lashed out at climate change skeptics, saying they're playing "a reckless game of roulette" with the planet's future. He thinks skeptics are having a “corrosive effect” on public opinion. Way to stick up for the planet Prince Charles. Now, get those teeth fixed.
Victoria Beckham - Spice Girls
Before getting her teeth fixed, Posh Spice was still a hottie. After the fact, she catapulted to become an internationally known super babe, and landed one of the most sought after hunks in the galaxy: footballer, David Beckham. She should be inspiration to Brits around the world to get their chompers fixed.
David Beckham - Professional Footballer
Being one of the most attractive men on the planet makes picking up girls a cinch. However, one can tell Beckham was ashamed of his yellow-stained teeth. Apparently, a simple teeth whitening procedure leads to landing hot girl band members. May that be a lesson for everyone.
Tony Blair - Former British Prime Minister
Tony Blair formed a strong political alliance with George W. Bush when he was in office, especially when it came to foreign policy. Nelson Mandela often described Blair as "the US foreign minister." We personally enjoy Blair being referred to as "Bush's poodle," because their teeth are so similar.
The Beatles really don't need any introduction. They are the most successful and commercially popular music act the world has ever seen, and are known to have recorded some of the greatest masterpieces. With Beatlemania, who even cares about perfect teeth?
Rolling Stones - Mick & Keith
The masterminds behind the Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote and composed most every song the band recorded. They were the other "Paul McCartney and John Lennon" duo, and are both alive today. Keith Richards' teeth actually look pretty good for someone who looks like they've had one foot in the grave for the past two decades.
