About Victor Giamos, M.D.
Dr. Giamos attended St. John’s University in Jamaica, New York where he graduated as Summa Cum Laude, receiving his Doctor of Pharmacy. He went on to study medicine at State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medical and Biomedical Sciences, receiving his Doctor of Medicine in 2008. Dr. Giamos completed a residency preliminary year of internal medicine at New York Medical College, Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, New York. He continued his ophthalmology training at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, where he was appointed chief resident during his senior year in 2012. Dr. Giamos also completed a two-month ophthalmology surgical rotation at Columbia University-Harkness Eye Institute in Manhattan, New York in 2012.
Dr.Giamos continues his passion for knowledge in his field through being a part of conferences throughout the United States and abroad. He has attended the Ophthalmology Missionary Trip to the Dominican Republic, the The Osler Institute, Wills Eye Review, American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Alcon Cataract Courses, just to name a few.
While completing his education, Victor Giamos, M.D. worked on research for several ophthalmic studies, including Cataract extraction with Premium Intraocular Lens Implant, as well as, a study on Emergency Department Orbital CT and Eye Injury.
Over the years, Dr. Giamos has received many awards including: Department of Internal Medicine Distinguished Service Award in 2009, the Jordan Proficiency in Ophthalmology Award, and Commitment to Excellence Award in 2009.
Dr. Giamos is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, ASCRS, and the Hellenic Medical Society of New York.
Dr. Giamos is fluent in English, Greek, and Spanish.
